"Diablo II" defined the hack and slash genre in the gaming industry. Over the years, several developers have tried to replicate what the popular cult classic RPG title offered to players in the past couple of decades. Interestingly, "Diablo II Remaster" is reportedly in the works and might see a release anytime this year, according to a new report.

The new information about "Diablo II Remaster" resurfaced once again recently. This time, the details come from Actugaming, a French website, which claims to have obtained information about the game's remastered version. According to the site, the upcoming title would be officially called "Diablo II Resurrected."

The site further reported that "Diablo II Remaster" or "Diablo II Resurrected" is currently being developed by Vicarious Visions, the same team behind the popular title "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane. Trilogy, as well as the PC port of "Destiny 2." As per wccftech, the said game might be announced at the Summer Game Fest or at the Blizzcon 2020, where its release date and several other details would be unveiled.

But the report also noted that the release date of "Diablo II Resurrected" may have already bet set by Blizzard, and fans should expect it in the last quarter of 2020. It can be recalled that the editor of Actugaming previously revealed details about "Overwatch 2" and "Diablo 4" ahead of the official announcement of Blizzard at last year's Blizzcon. So, when it comes to the veracity of leaks, the site has an impressive track record.

Reports about "Diablo II Remaster" have been rife online over the past years. In other words, this latest information is no longer a surprise to fans and to the community. Also, whispers online about Blizzard brewing something related to the second entry to its popular hack and slash RPG series have been teased for several times already. In Nov. 2019, "Diablo" series creators Erich Schaefer, Max Schaefer, and David Brevik, however, said that "Diablo II Remaster" is highly unlikely.

The creators cited that all the assets of the popular RPG title are now gone, and they would need to build everything from scratch should they decide to create the rumored "Diablo II Remaster." It is worth mentioning that although Actugaming has a good track record when it comes to leaking details about "Diablo II Resurrected" are still unconfirmed and unofficial. In other words, fans should take this with a pinch of salt and with skepticism.
