Real Madrid recalled its players recently to prepare for the resumption of football action. Considering most were left idle at home and given programs, the last thing most would expect is for a player to get injured. Surprisingly, Luka Jovic suffered one, an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot.

Before that, Jovic was already in the hot seat. He was called out for violating lockdown guidelines due to the COVID-19 after he was spotted out of his apartment while quarantines were in effect. He has since apologized for that but it was pretty clear that he was under a lot of heat.

Going down further, it has not exactly been a great season for the 22-year-old footballer. He has hardly proved worthy of the hefty investment that Los Blancos made. Jovic was acquired for a record $65 million, an investment that has hardly seemed worth it. Given these circumstances, it comes to no surprise that Jovic would be worried about what the future holds.

As for his injury, it remains unclear how he sustained it. However, his father (Milan Jovic) provided a broad explanation behind it in a report by Spanish publication Kurir. The elder Jovic explained how his son was eager to use the break to improve, following the program given to him while at home. The injury was something that occurred seemingly out of bad luck.

"Who could know what was so serious? He was preparing to be like never before, go out and be the best - and this is happening now," Milan Jovic said.

Aware that he has a lot of ground to cover, it seems understandable that Jovic is feeling depressed with the sudden turn of events. The thought of possibly having a limited role or being sent off via transfer is a given, all pretty much frustrating but a result of poor judgment on the part of the Serbian striker.

Even worse, his performance has resulted in Zinedine Zidane losing confidence in Jovic. That alone is a warning that his stay at Santiago Bernabeu may be coming to an end. And if a transfer does go down, there is one team waiting in the wings - Arsenal FC.

There were three teams interested in Jovic, the other two being Inter Milan and Napoli. Those two teams have reportedly cooled down interest on the Serbian, leaving the Gunners as the lone team possibly dealing for Jovic. Given the financial situation of most clubs right now, it remains to be seen if the interest remains.
