Princess Diana was supposed to have a statue erected at Kensington Palace as planned by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, delays have marred the construction and completion of the project due to the brothers' feud, according to reports.

Daily Mail revealed that Princess Diana's statue was supposed to be built at the sunken gardens in Kensington Palace, which was the favorite spot of the Princess of Wales. Prince William and Prince Harry planned the project over three years ago, along with Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife.

The brothers apparently had a sculptor hired, Ian Rank-Broadley, who also did the portrait of Queen Elizabeth for the British coins. But before the project could start, Prince William and Prince Harry went through a personal conflict, with the latter declaring that he will be on a different path from his older brother.

The Princess Diana statue was supposed to complete the garden that Sean Harkin, the royal gardener at Kensington Palace, designed and set up, according to Tatler. But since the brothers apparently "barely speak" today, the plan has been in limbo.

Sources revealed that Prince William has been "exasperated" by his younger brother's behavior since revealing his choice to step back from his royal duties with his wife, Meghan Markle.  Prince Harry, on the other hand, felt that the he was being abandoned by his family amid their struggles over being in the public eye.

Apparently, Prince William gave an update about his mother's statue in the summer of last year. He, reportedly, told royal fans gathered outside of Kensington Palace that the statue would be appearing "soon, very soon."

Speculations are that Prince William is planning the statue's completion without his brother's inputs. A palace source was apparently quoted to have said that the groundwork has started but this will be a long-term project.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan have been living in Los Angeles since the middle of March. The Duke of Sussex was supposed to fly to London last April for the annual London Marathon but since the pandemic struck, all members of the royal family have to cancel engagements and stay at home in compliance with the government's orders.

It's still unclear when Prince Harry could return to his native land because of the coronavirus lockdown. It's also uncertain if the statue project has been temporarily halted since the government asked the public to limit their activities  to protect their health as the rate of virus infection increase.
