Timo Werner is attracting the attention of European giants, and he is linked with a possible transfer to Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the summer. However, the RB Leipzig ace has recently stated that in the event of his exit from Bundesliga, he would favor playing overseas, and not in Spain but England.

The statement ruled out the likelihood of the German striker bringing his game to La Liga, and the same goes for the Bavarians. Reports said Werner is more inclined to join up with a Premier League club, and Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are on top of the list of the 24-year-old.

Werner closing the door on a Munich switch angered Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who, according to Metro, scored the Leipzig star for his tasteless remarks.

"I'm actually no longer astonished at anything, but I have never seen a player make such a statement in response to rumors in public," the club executive was reported as saying.

The German star, however, found an ally in Ralf Rangnick, who used to manage Leipzig. Rangnick said that while he would prefer that Werner will stay where he is now, it's hard to deny that he will be a perfect fit with the way Jurgen Klopp plays Liverpool.

"I would better see him [Werner] in good hands with a club that is not necessarily defined by ball possession football ... he would rather fit a club like Liverpool, which is similar to our style of play, but I would prefer him to stay here," said the former Leipzig boss.

Rangnick noted that with Werner's fast switching moves and powerful finishes, he will surely shine as part of the Klopp side.

Meanwhile, amid the reports that the Reds will not actively work on a transfer deal involving Werner, Liverpool Echo said the English club could pull off a surprise and end up landing the young striker for next season. The biggest hint on this is Werner's pronouncement that staying in Germany and playing in La Liga is not on his mind.

The Leipzig ace sees himself starring for an English club, and all indications pointed to Werner wearing a red jersey soon. And if this will play out as expected, it would be a perfect signing for Klopp, the report said.

"He would get plenty of minutes ... And his flexibility and capability to play all across the front three positions would mean he would be called upon a lot," added the report.

Werner with the Reds, the report continued, will lead to the club evolving as required, and the German will serve as a potent tool that will aid the club to formulate "different ways of attacking."
