She may be pushing 40 years old but Jang Nara is not in any rush to get married anytime soon. The actress revealed her reasons for not yet settling down at a recent press conference for her latest project.
While most people her age are pressured into getting married and raising families, Jang Nara said that it was not the same case for her because people simply assume that it's her choice not to get married, SBS reported.
She clarified that it was not the case and explained that she simply feels no pressure to get married. She also wants to do it under the right conditions.
"As I'm in my late 30s, so many people ask me why I'm not getting married. I just want to say though, I don't want to get married simply because I'm old, and have reached that age. To be honest, I want to get married and have a family one day. But this is only if I meet a good person who I love very much. It's actually very important to me who that person is," Jang Nara said honestly.
Jang Nara has played married characters many times effectively, most notably for 2017's Go Back Couple where she earned the Excellent Actress honor for KBS Drama Awards for her portrayal of a wife and mother who goes back in time to relive her youth after her marriage falls apart.
She also enters the royal family and marries the emperor in a marriage of convenience in The Last Empress. Jang Nara also plays the role of a woman who leads a team that manages VIP clients and finds out about her husband's infidelity in VIP. She won acting awards at SBS Drama Awards for two consecutive years for both roles.
This time around, Jang Nara plays the role of a successful professional who wants to have a baby but doesn't want to get married for Oh My Baby.
As expected, the actress earned praise from the producers for her excellent work ethic.
"Jang Nara is an actress who prepares extremely meticulously before she arrives on set. Her ability to immerse herself in her acting and her careful analysis of her character is exceptional. As soon as the cameras start rolling on set, it takes just one second for her to lose herself in her role and fully immerse herself in her character's emotions," they said.
They added that Jang Nara was the only actress they envisioned to pull off the role of a strong woman who would think about raising a baby on her own without marriage. Oh My Baby premiered on the tvN last May 13.
