Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are about to celebrate their first anniversary together very soon and for the past months, the couple has faced several rumors about their relationship. One of which was the alleged secret engagement last fall.

In October 2019, In Touch published a story claiming Mendes and Cabello were already engaged. It was around the same time that Shawn had admitted that he and the "Havana" singer were dating since July 2019.

In its story back then, In Touch claimed Mendes got down on his knee and asked Cabello to marry him. The former Fifth Harmony member allegedly said yes to Shawn.

A source of the tabloid hinted that it was a sudden proposal since the "In My Blood" singer didn't present a ring to his girlfriend. The insider added that the couple would officially announce their engagement once Camila "picks out the perfect ring."

From October to now, Cabello hasn't been seen with an engagement ring which proves that the engagement rumor was in fact just a rumor. Though they are clearly deeply in love and they show it in their PDA photos, the "Senorita" singers were not engaged then and certainly not now.

The only thing that is true in Shawn-Camila's love story at the moment is that they are quarantining together since March. The couple is spending time with the "First Man" singer's family in Florida.

Last month, it was also rumored that the couple has decided to take their relationship to the next level. Mendes and Cabello were, allegedly, thinking about looking for a place of their own once the pandemic is over.

OK! magazine claimed since the "If I Can't Have You" crooner has been spending so much time with Cabello's family, they have considered him as one of the family. Camilla's family, allegedly, gave their seal of approval to Shawn and the couple is, reportedly, ready to move forward.

Gossip Cop noted that there is somehow truth about the story such as Shawn is getting along really well with Cabello's family. The publication noted that the couple's relationship seems to be doing well even while they have been cohabitating for a couple of months now. Hence, it wouldn't come as a surprise if they would decide to move in together after the lockdown is lifted.

For now, the pair has been actively participating in several online charity concerts and events while in quarantine together. They recently performed Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World" in Lady Gaga's One World: Together At Home.
