Manchester United started 2020 with talks of club boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting the boot in January and possibly Mauricio Pochettino taking the mantle from the Norwegian. Solskjaer, however, chalked up 11 straight wins in the weeks that followed and the rumors died down because of the impressive run, but only to re-emerge this week.

Pochettino was sacked in November 2019 after more than four years of managing things at Tottenham. Speculations are rife the Argentine will soon return to coaching but with a new team and the clubs mentioned so far are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City.

However, the strongest candidate to emerge so far for the manager's next job is Manchester United, and Tottenham defender Danny Rose is convinced his former boss will make his way at Old Trafford sooner or later.

According to Metro, Rose said there is no doubt that Pochettino will be managing a top-flight football team and the player pointed to the Premier League as the Argentine's preferred destination despite offers coming from Spain and France.

When asked if the former Spurs boss will be replacing Solskjaer, the Premier League star said Pochettino will take over United "eventually."

Pochettino getting the top job at United is nothing new. Per the same report, he was tipped to run for the club following the exit of Louis Van Gaal in 2016. And when Jose Mourinho was fired by the club in December 2018, Pochettino was said to be on the shortlist before Solskjaer was appointed permanently.

Now it would seem that Rose is making sense of his belief that United will go for Pochettino soon as the latter is already cleared to take up a new coaching job.

According to Talk Sport, the manager is free to get a new job in England since "his gardening leave period has come to an end and." The report was referring to the stretch of a period that prevented Pochettino from a similar work that he did for Tottenham.

For the Spurs, the legal restraint had lapsed on May 18 so any teams looking to sign him will be free to do so and not worry about any issue. If a deal was agreed prior to the end of the restriction, Tottenham will be entitled to compensation.

In the event that Pochettino is managing again and possibly as early as next season, one team strongly linked with him is said to be Newcastle. The club is slated to be taken over by a new management firm from Saudi Arabia with a touted investment injection of £300 million.

The Argentine could be attracted by the prospect of handling a club that can win titles with plans to hire stars such as Gareth Bale and Philippe Coutinho.
