Given the choice, Manchester United could have made life hard for Sheffield FC if they opted for a new deal or not grant a loan extension on goalkeeper Dean Henderson. One of many players who are awaiting what the future holds, the 23-year-old has fewer things to worry about right now after the Red Devils gave Sheffield a loan extension on Henderson.

The move was not spared from questions, one of which United taking a big risk of allowing Sheffield to catch up to them. They are just two points behind the Red Devils and a win over Aston Villa could bump them ahead. The Blades have 10 more games left and the class act move could render dire implications on the Premier League standings, The Telegraph reported. The Blades are currently tied with Wolverhampton in points with 43 each.

Looking at it from a different perspective, United would have no use for Henderson. They are doing well with David de Gea and Henderson would have just been dead weight had he returned to Old Trafford. Man Utd could have offered Henderson elsewhere but that would have been a long process. With most teams looking for ways to curb the financial pinch, the loan deal is one less thing to worry about with plans to restart the season by June.

For The Blades, the deal would also give them one less thing to worry about. Henderson has been performing well and Chris Wilder is expected to fully utilize him in their remaining games. It is also a big boost to their Champions League aspirations. As of this writing, only Liverpool has conceded more goals compared to them at 21.

On the part of United, they have other things to worry about. They also have loan extension problems of their own in Odion Ighalo. With players like Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba possibly back by the resumption of play, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have a surplus of talent. But the latest on that is that United maybe get a reprieve as well. It appears Shanghai Shenhua is also granting a loan extension for the Nigerian provided he signs a new deal first.

It would be a waste as well if Ighalo would return to China. Border restrictions are still in place, meaning the Nigerian may not make it in time to suit up for Shanghai Shenhua. Once the loan deal extension is finalized, Ighalo can play for United until January.
