There is little doubt that people are already excited about the Avatar sequels now that the cast and crew are offering more updates on what is happening in the new films. So what exactly will be happening in Avatar 2? Producer Jon Landau has just revealed some interesting new details about main characters Jake Sully and Neytiri as well as their young family. Interestingly, it looks like the Na'vi will need to find a new home in the upcoming sequel.

Jon Landau has been the one person who keeps providing awesome updates on Avatar 2. The producer, who also worked on the 2009 film, has been sharing new images taken from behind the scenes when production was still in progress. Unfortunately, filming had to be put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. Nevertheless, Landau continues to give fans something to look forward to with teases on social media.

The most recent Avatar 2 update provided by Jon Landau was through an interview with RNZ where he confirmed that the film will begin production in New Zealand this month. However, there will be fewer people returning to the project this time.  "We're bringing really those who are essential to our filming needs and we'll be working with the same crew that we had in New Zealand," Landau said. He then shared some details about the plot.

"This is the story of the Sully family and what one does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they go out and explore the different regions of Pandora, including spending quite a bit of time on the water, around the water, in the water," Landau said.

This is sad news for fans considering that the Omaticaya had lost their Hometree in the original film. On the other hand, it also presents an exciting new possibility as audiences could be introduced to a new side of Pandora next year. Needless to say, the upcoming sequel is going to be an interesting one whether you have seen the first movie or not.

Avatar 2 will bring back Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington as Neytiri and Jake Sully. Sigourney Weaver will also return as Dr. Grace Augustine although there have been speculations that she is playing a completely new character since her character was killed off in the first movie. The sequel is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
