Timo Werner of RB Leipzig is one of the most sought-after players heading into the next transfer window with Liverpool FC at the top of the list. Considering they are already loaded, some believe that a move to Anfield may not necessarily be the best one for the 24-year-old striker. But Danny Mills, a former English defender, thinks otherwise.

According to Mills, Werner could be added insurance for coach Jurgen Klopp if someone among Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, or Robert Firminho gets injured. If not, he feels that Klopp will come up with something to put all of them on the field at the same time in a post from Football Insider. In all, he feels that adding a quality player to an already formidable lineup would not hurt. But it remains that the pressure will be on Klopp to make it all work.

"They’ve lost one league game all season and one last season. There’s certainly not too much that needs to change but I do feel a top attacking player is needed but if the finances aren’t there, they aren’t there," Mills said.

There are suggestions that one player who could be displaced or should give way is Firminho. And while Mills agrees, that may not be needed if Klopp pulls some strings. He pointed out how the Reds could shift from a 4-3-3 setup to a 4-2-3-1 formation in the event Werner does end up in Anfield. With more offensive weapons, there is no denying that The Reds may end up with one of the most ferocious frontlines in the league.

But of course, Werner needs to blend in with Salah, Firminho, and Mane. Most will have to adjust to the new system if Klopp is to use all of them at the same time. Plucking one out of the starting lineup is also possible but could be a waste of time. Worse, it could raise concerns on the players concerned as far as importance to the team. If they are unhappy with the playing time given, they could end up seeking a release and play for a team that can utilize them more.

Werner is undoubtedly someone who can spark a club's offense. So far, he has already scored 93 goals in 153 appearances. The bounty for Werner is a stiff $61.8 million, although Liverpool is likely to haggle the price. However, there are other teams also interested in the German player. Among those include Manchester United and Chelsea FC.
