Two years ago, search engine giant Google launched a new suite for Android users' digital well-being through efficient time management. At the 2019 I/O event, Google introduced improved capabilities related to parental controls. While this year's similar event has been postponed, Google refreshes its well-being toolset and now presents the new personal safety check feature.

Google recently updated its Pixel smartphones with interesting features; one of these is the safety check feature. Apart from the ease of activation, this feature allows the user to decide on the time it checks in. When the time is set, the new personal safety check takes over the whole smartphone screen and requests for the user's status.

Users have the option to either dismiss the query by informing the feature that the user is fine. There is also an option where users can tell the current location's safety check feature and share all of the user's emergency contacts. What makes this new feature interesting is that if users do not respond within a minute, the personal safety check would notify all the user's emergency contacts and provide the current location on Google Maps.

At the time of this publication, the safety check feature is not yet capable of automatically calling 911. While there is a high chance that users might forget to dismiss the safety check feature on their smartphones and sends emergency notifications to contacts, it is still an impressive feature. So far, Android phones are the only smartphones with this kind of safety check feature.

It only highlights the possibility that Google is trying to expand the safety features of Android run smartphones. In 2019, Google launched the car crash detection feature, and this year, this new safety check feature would soon be available on all android smartphones. Aside from the latest safety check, Google also launched other exciting new features.

It includes bedtime mode and adaptive battery mode. The bedtime mode allows users to fall asleep to soothing sounds and restrict interruptions while the user is sleeping. If the user happens to go beyond his bedtime, a snapshot showing the time spent awake using which apps would be available according to the recent blog post from the search engine giant.

Another interesting new feature is the added functionality of the Google Assistant. It now allows users to start, stop, and search voice recordings. Users have to say, 'Hey Google, start recording my voice.' Recordings and transcripts can now be directly saved on the user's Google Docs. It is very handy, especially if the recording contains transcripts of the meeting as it allows fast and smooth sharing of the document with other concerned parties.
