Apple's MacBook Pro 2020 is a beautiful machine, but it does not come cheap. But, And it seems that the Cupertino tech giant is not planning on reducing its price but doing the opposite. Apple doubled the price of one of the essential components for the upgrade of the premium laptop, which could disappoint fans.
MacRumors first reported Apple's latest move on MacBook Pro 2020. The site shared that fans who wish to upgrade the RAM of their MacBook Pro would see two times increase in a wide range of markets all over the world. The move could be due to the continuous supply chain disruptions caused by the current global health crisis, the site added.
MacBook Pro users who want to increase their 8 GB RAM to 16 GB RAM could spend $200 from the previous $100 customization option. In a separate report, Forbes noted that the price increase is substantial, but it is so far applicable only to MacBook Pro 2020. The site added that other Mac machines are not yet pushing the same price increase.
It only proves, according to Forbes, that Apple's move for MacBook Pro 2020 has little to do with the fluctuations in currency. It agreed with MacRumors that a shortage of supply causes the move. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the supply chains not only of Apple but also of other tech giants all over the world.
In previous months, the world witnessed the shutdown of manufacturing partners of giant companies in China. The country started opening these plants in March with a high backlog in manufacturing crucial components. Apple may have already set the price of the MacBook Pro 2020 long before the disruptions in the supply chain, the increase in RAM upgrade could be its move to amend the issue and to handle the shortage.
