There is little doubt that Hyungwon of MONSTA X is one of the coolest idols in the business. The lead dancer of the boy group is known for being a popular model before their debut and also limelights as a DJ under the name H.One. In addition to that, Chae Hyungwon has been declared the King of Memes for his hilarious reactions and relatable attitude. But did you know that Hyungwon is also the undisputed King of Awesome Costumes?
MONSTA X have just staged a comeback with their new mini album Fantasia X and its lead single 'Fantasia'. As a way to encourage fans to watch their new music video, the idols vowed to release a dance practice video for the song if the MV reaches 10 million views. In addition to that, Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. promised to record a dance choreography version of the MV if the original one gets 20 million views. Not surprisingly, Monbebes managed to give the 'Fantasia' MV over 20 million views in the first week of release alone.
Naturally, MONSTA X did not disappoint their fans. Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M. all got together to film a special dance practice video for 'Fantasia' and this time, there's a twist. The idols would perform in costumes they pick from papers folded in a cup. At this point, the members were not aware of the costumes that were prepared by the staff.
Kihyun was the first to reveal the costume he picked, which turned out to be a king. When Minhyuk revealed he had picked a royal scholar costume, Yoo Kihyun was quick to point out that he was above Lee Minhyuk. Shownu's costume turned out to be a fisherman while Joohoney would dress like a student. Meanwhile, I.M. had chosen to wear a European prince's costume and for some reason, Hyungwon picked the dinosaur costume.
It's a hilarious yet fitting pick for Hyungwon who always ends up with the animal costumes in MONSTA X. Chae Hyungwon had also ended up wearing a dog costume before and seems very comfortable putting on a turtle costume as well. Interestingly, dancing in a dinosaur costume was not easy and Hyungwon even had to deal with the other members having fun with his costume. At one point, I.M. was more interested in playing with his tail than going through the choreography yet Hyungwon got through it with no big problems.
