Kate Middleton is taking a particular interest in correcting a story about her that ran in the society bible Tatler. Reports revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge was upset by the coverage, especially because it compared her to her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.

According to Duncan Larcombe, Kate wants the line drawn because the press has gone too far with pitting her and Meghan against each other. The former royal editor said in interview with OK! that Kate resents how some media outlets are using her like "a stick to beat Meghan" with it.

Kensington Palace reportedly had lawyers sent a letter to Tatler to take down their story, titled "Catherine the Great," because it was full of inaccurate details. In it, the writer alleged, by citing anonymous sources, that Kate and Meghan clashed especially during the latter's wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.

It also stated that Kate feels exhausted about the added demands for their work as royals. She is allegedly furious at Prince Harry and Meghan, who quit their responsibilities in March to start a new life away from the royals in Los Angeles.

Tatler responded and confirmed to have received the lawyer's letter. However, the magazine said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's complaint about the article has no merit. The editor, Richard Dennen, said Kensington Palace apparently knew of the story beforehand because they sought the palace's help to work on the story.

Dennen and the Duchess of Cambridge go way back in college at St. Andrews. They have allegedly spent holidays together as well, according to The Sun. Thus, this Tatler report feels like a betrayal for Kate. She also feels betrayed by the alleged "friends" who were the anonymous sources of the story.

In the past, Tatler has championed Kate as the royal family's VIP. The tone of the story actually started that way until the writer, Anna Pasternak, mentioned Meghan and Kate's alleged competitive relationship. She also took a swipe at the background of Kate's family, who are middle class commoners.

A royal insider, however, told Daily Mail that the Tatler coverage was cruel, sexist and full of lies. The magazine might have been mistaken to think that it's immune to legal action, given that it is a favorite reading material for the royals and the elite, and Kate is good friends with the editor.
