Kate Middleton did not play a huge role in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding. The Sussex couple tied the knot in 2018, which is just a year after their relationship went public.

With the Duchess of Cambridge's high ranks within the British Royal Family, this, reportedly, made a lot of fans and followers wonder why she was not chosen as a bridesmaid for the grand wedding. Some concluded that this was because they had not started on good terms, according to Cheat Sheet.

The rumors of an apparent rift between the two Duchesses have circulated since Meghan's arrival into the royal fold. While some, reportedly, said that it was due to the bad relationship that they have had, others could not put a reason behind. The truth is that this was not the case at all, as per claims.

Kate Middleton was already in her 30s when the Sussex couple decided to get married. The same is also true for Meghan Markle's closest friends, which is why they were not bridesmaids, as well, on the huge event, Town & Country said.

As explained, weddings in the British Royal Family only allow young individuals as bridesmaids. This is why all those who belong to the bridal party were young, like toddlers, including the Duchess of Cambridge's kids.

During the Sussex couple's wedding, the bridesmaids were Princess Charlotte, the Cambridge couple's daughter, and Zalie Warren and Florence van Cutsem, who are both Prince Harry's goddaughters. Meghan Markle's goddaughters, Remi Litt, Rylan Litt, and Ivy Mulroney were also bridesmaids, according to Insider.

Apart from this, there is no other reason why Kate Middleton was not a bridesmaid during Meghan Markle's wedding. Reports then even added that she was not also a bridesmaid during her sister, Pippa Middleton's wedding.

As stated, the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister have a very close relationship. However, she was not part of the official ceremony and the bridal party.

While it has remained unclear why she did not play a huge role in the wedding, royal experts, reportedly, noted that this was just "fitting" and suitable. Royal editor Jude Wade told People that it was a "tricky situation" for Pippa.

Given that she would want her sister, Kate Middleton, by her side on her special day, it is said that they considered the Duchess of Cambridge's high status as the future Queen of the United Kingdom. She would "draw attention" and might "upstage" her, she added.
