Lady Frederick Windsor has been given the patronage of the Children's Surgery Foundation, previously known as the Chelsea Children's Hospital Charity. The royal will be working with the organization that has collaborations with the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons to help children worldwide.

According to the London Post, the royal, who is most commonly known by her name as an actress, Sophie Winkleman, joins three other new patrons for the foundation -- Jane Asher, Susan Hampshire and Lord Norwich. Sophie is said to be thrilled to come aboard to help with the charity's existing extraordinary work.

Sophie is related to Queen Elizabeth by marriage. She is the wife of Lord Frederick Windsor, whom she married in 2009.

Lord Frederick is the 49th in line to the succession of the British throne. He is the son of the Queen's first cousin, Prince Michael of Kent and Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz or Princess Michael of Kent.

The former actress is known for her work in the sitcom Two and a Half Men, the drama series Trust, and her most recent guest spot in the historial period series Sanditon. Sophie didn't quit her professional career when she became a member of the royal family but she limits her TV projects and appearances.

In 2018, Sophie suffered serious injuries following a car accident that left her unable to move for months due to a broken back. She revealed that her husband's cousin, Prince Charles, made the sweetest gesture as she was recovering at the hospital and then at home.

Apparently, Prince Charles arranged for his own cook to prepare meals for her family because he knew that Sophie couldn't supervise in the kitchen. So, for weeks, Lord Frederick and his wife were delivered food from Clarence House.

Sophie said that her husband's side of her family spoiled her to bits when she was disabled. She pretty much received calls from them regularly during her recovery, including from Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and son of Prince Charles.

Meanwhile, Lord Frederick and Sophie are parents to Maud, born in 2013, and Isabella, born in 2016. Maud is the same age as Prince George, Prince William's son with Kate Middleton, and also goes to school at Thomas's Battersea. Sophie said that Maud and Prince George get along quite well and the future king of England is a "very clever and articulate boy."
