For years, there has been a barrage of rumors that the Cupertino-based tech juggernaut Apple was preparing to enter into the gaming industry. The rumors further escalated when Apple launched the Apple Arcade in 2019 as well as the integration of support on iOS devices and Apple TV of mainstream gaming controllers. A new leak surfaced recently claiming that the Cupertino company is preparing to launch Apple TV game controller in 2020.

The latest leak comes from an Apple insider named Jioriku. The tipster said that The Cupertino tech giant is launching the Apple TV 6 with an A12 Bionic chip. Additionally, the tipster revealed that Apple is making its own game controller for the Apple TV 6. While Jioriju could not confirm that the device would be launch at this year's WWDC, he did not discount the possibility that it might be announced at the event.

In Mar 2020, Apple insider lovetodream shared on Twitter that Apple is developing its own game contoller. Like Jioriku, the tipster did not reveal the details of the said controller. Whispers about Apple preparing for its own gaming entry in the industry intensified in 2019 when tvOS and iOS 13 got the support that enables gamers to utilize their PlayStation 4 and Xbox controllers with Apple devices.

Although the iPad has dedicated support for both PS4 and Xbox One controllers. It also has support for third-party accessories maker like Gamevice has a wide range of this type of accessories for iPhone models as well. Interestingly, this is the first time that the industry hears that an Apple-branded gaming controller or accessory for Apple TV is coming.

Getting into the gaming industry is a major step for Apple, but over the years, it appears like the company has never shown any inclinations in gaming hardware. Interestingly, Apple is a company focused on providing better user experience and design. Over the years, the Cupertino tech giant has cemented itself as among those that have built other human interface devices like mice, keyboards, and trackpads, to name a few.

While creating a game controller is a massive departure from Apple's usual route, the industry is flourishing and even seems unaffected with the negative impacts of the global health crisis caused by the coronavirus. Apple is scheduled to commence its annual WWDC 2020 event on Jun 22, and it is only a matter of time that the industry would know if the company would indeed announce its own game controller for Apple TV.
