Prince Charles recently delivered a speech about diversity and the fans of Meghan Markle appeared to not be too pleased with it. They even went on to slam the Prince of Wales for “failing to protect” the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle’s supporters claimed that Prince Charles did nothing while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were being “bullied.” The backlash came months after Prince Harry and Meghan quit royal life and relocated to the US to make a fresh start.

On Monday, Prince Charles released a video message to mark the Windrush Day. The Prince of Wales shared that “diversity of our society is its greatest strength.” However, the fans of Meghan Markle didn’t agree with him.

”Shame on him for real. He did nothing to protect his daughter in law... as diverse as they come…” one fan posted on Twitter. “This from the man who sat back and watched his own daughter-in-law got racially bullied & did absolutely nothing to support her,” another one wrote.

Some fans called Prince Charles a hypocrite and said that his speech about diversity was nothing but “empty words.” Many believed that things would have been different if the future King protected Meghan Markle from bashers.

Meanwhile, before marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan Markle had already been using her celebrity status in supporting foundations and speaking out about campaigns that she is very passionate about. A video of the Duchess of Sussex speaking out about her own experiences of racism has unearthed after the death of George Floyd at the hands of police brutality. The clip was taken back in 2012, years before she became a part of the Royal family.

Meghan Markle joined USA Network's “Characters Unite: ‘I Won't Stand For’” campaign eight years ago. The Duchess of Sussex was an actress at the time and used her platform to share her experience being a biracial woman.

Meghan Markle went on to say that because of her race, she became a subject of name-calling and offensive jokes. She also shared that her mother Doria Ragland was called a racial slur. The former Suit star said that she is “personally affected by racism” and is hoping for “things to be better” in the world.

After George Floyd’s death on May 25, protesters, celebrities, influencers, and more then revived the Black Lives Matter movement. The 46-year-old black man died when his pleas that he couldn’t breathe were unheard.
