Queen Elizabeth released a statement saying that she and the Royal Family members support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior royals. But just like most decisions, theirs also come with a price.
June was the start for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to abide with the arrangement after their royal exit. It is during this month that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stripped off from their HRH titles, and the prince’s military title.
On Thursday, Prince Harry’s Travalyst website, which is an environmental tourism initiative, removed all references to him as "His Royal Highness.” The HRH is a key honorary title used by leading members of the Royal Family. But since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to withdraw from their roles, they can not use it anymore.
Aside from losing their HRH titles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also no longer allowed to use the word “Royal” in their new ventures. The couple released a statement of their own, noting that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand after they officially leave their roles.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then abandoned their Instagram account because it was named “Sussex Royal.” When the couple created their social media account, they amassed over 11 million followers. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have lost hundreds of thousands of followers after their royal exit.
After saying their goodbyes to their Instagram followers on March 30, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not posted on the Sussex Royal account since. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had 11.3 million followers in April, and they are now down to 11 million as of this writing.
Reports claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were set to close down their Sussex Royal Foundation as they start their new life outside the Royal family. However, their account is still up on the social media platform, but there was no new post.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new foundation name is called Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.
However, people are not as impressed with the name as many may expect. Some even compared it to two controversial brands, such as Tom Cruise’s religion, Scientology, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company, Goop.
