Musician Ryan Adams issued an apology to his ex-wife, Mandy Moore, and to the other women who accused him of abusive behavior. In his lengthy letter, the 45-year-old artist apologized for his past actions, saying he felt awful for the ways he mistreated people.

Over a year, multiple women, including Moore, accused Adams of harassment and emotional abuse. In February 2019, the New York Times published an expose detailing the singer's alleged pattern of manipulative, obsessive, and abusive behavior towards young female musicians.

In the same article, Moore opened up about her life with the former Whiskeytown frontman. She said after they got married, Ryan discouraged her from working with other managers and music producers. Eventually, Adams became in charge of her music career.

Ryan Adams, allegedly, used a similar approach to other women he had relationships with. Apparently, the "Heartbreaker" singer would offer to help with their career, then exploit their vulnerability and manipulate them into having sex with him. Adams denied the accusation at the time.

But now, he is telling a different story. In his open letter sent to the Daily Mail, Adams said he is truly sorry for his mistakes and added that isolation made him reflect on his actions.

Ryan said he has been dealing with its effects on his life. He added that he understands that his apology won't be accepted by those he hurt but appeal to them to find a way to forgive him.

The rock star also vowed to do all he can to fix the root cause of actions and said he has since made significant changes in his life. Adams shared he is now getting professional help to stay sober. The "To Be Without You" singer added his sobriety and mental health are his priorities at the moment.

The singer also denied speculations that he apologized with hopes to make a career comeback but also said he had written enough to "fill half a dozen albums." In addition, Adams announced on Instagram the relaunched of his website on the same day that he released his apology.

Meanwhile, Moore hasn't commented on her ex-husband's apology yet. The This Is Us actress filed for divorce from Adams in early 2015, citing "irreconcilable differences". Their divorce was finalized in 2016 and Moore later on revealed that she suffered from emotional abuse during her marriage to the Grammy-nominated singer.

The A Walk To Remember actress also opened up with PEOPLE about his six-year marriage with the rock star. Moore admitted that she wasn't in control of her life during the time she's married to Adams. She confessed that it wasn't a fruitful marriage as she hoped it would be.
