A new leak claims that a recent online survey from a reputable marketing company might have hinted the possible price of Sony's PS5. If we were in ordinary times with E3 still a physical event, Sony and Microsoft might have already announced the price of their respective gaming consoles. However, since the times have changed, fans are still waiting for the recommended or suggested retail price of not only the PS5 but also Xbox Series X.

The latest information about the possible price of the PS5 was recently shared online on Reddit by a user named youessbee. According to the post, the Reddit user participated in a recent online survey conducted by Nielsen. The survey asked about a particular gaming console, its digital alternatives, and how its features do or do not justify the price.

Additionally, the post revealed that the Nielsen survey inquired about the possible $435 price tag of the PS5 and $323 price tag of the PS5 Digital Edition. Interestingly, the Reddit user claimed that he has also done several surveys for the company about movies and TV shows. He noted that the opinion he gave on the survey is the same one that came out later. He also said that the survey asked his opinion on the price of the console.

The Reddit user said that he is aware that the price is low but explained that based on his experience with online surveys, the prices are often low. He noted that some of the products were later released with around 20% increase to what was offered during the online survey. Moreover, the Reddit user said that he simply wanted to share his experience and fans should not take his words as gospel truth.

Based on the information shared by youessbee, the 20% potential increase in the survey price of the PS5 could mean Sony might retail the PS5 at $521 and the PS5 Digital Edition at $386. While these figures do not officially reveal the price of the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition, it might give the industry a rough estimate of the price range of the upcoming gaming console.

In a previous interview, Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan shared that he is optimistic about the sales of the PS5. He noted that the gaming industry is a more recession-proof business. However, he also recognizes that the current state caused by the pandemic could help the company to make sure that it gets the value equation right.

Sony announced last year that the PS5 would arrive sometime in the holiday of 2020.
