Prince Andrew is, reportedly, feeling "nervous" following the arrest of his friend, Ghislaine Maxwell, in connection to the Jeffrey Epstein sexual trafficking case. Because of this, the Duke of York has decided to ditch his trip to Spain, where he usually goes for his annual golfing trip.
A source told the New York Post that Prince Andrew decided to cancel his trip to Spain this year because it might give the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) a reason to officially request his presence in the U.S. The Duke of York has increasingly been more worried because Maxwell was finally apprehended by the FBI after months of hiding from the authorities.
The source also revealed that Prince Andrew might likely not be flying and leaving the U.K. anytime soon. He will also not be visiting the U.S. in the foreseeable future, and it's not because of the coronavirus pandemic scare but because of the DOJ.
The agency has been wanting to talk to Prince Andrew in the matter of Epstein's cases, since the accused took his own life while awaiting his trial in prison in the mid-2019. But the arrest of Maxwell in early July signifies a break in the case since she apparently knows everything about Epstein's illegal activities as her girlfriend and alleged pimp.
A friend of Prince Andrew and Maxwell however, said that she will not drag the royal's name in the Epstein case. Laura Goldman spoke with Maxwell prior to her arrest and said that she was seeing this case "coming to the end" for her. Goldman believes that Maxwell will enter a guilty plea. Maxwell also apparently said that she will not say anything against the Duke of York.
Goldman said that Maxwell truly feels that Prince Andrew has been a friend through her many ups and downs. When she lost the pillar of her life, her father, billionaire Robert Maxwell, Prince Andrew, who is a long-time friend, was there to console and sympathize with her.
Meanwhile, the DOJ and the FBI have been pressuring Prince Andrew to face and talk to them for the sake of Epstein's women victims. They claimed that they have approached the Duke of York's legal team quite a number of times but the other party said that they DOJ and FBI ghosted them.
Prince Andrew resigned from his royal roles in November 2019 after his televised interview to clarify his friendship with Epstein drew more questions than answers. The Duke of York has not been seen in public engagements since he stepped back from the royal spotlight.
