Kai Havertz is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and reports said the attacking midfielder will likely join Chelsea. If the move to the Premier League will materialize, Havertz will play alongside Timo Werner, which is part of the German playmaker's transfer plans.

The prospect of working with Werner again serves as a huge attraction to the Leverkusen ace and might just convince him to join up with the Blues. The excitement on Havertz's part is no surprise as he and Werner are teammates in Germany.

Werner has completed his transfer deal with the Blues recently, and his presence in the club next season could lead Havertz to make the switch in favor of Frank Lampard's side.

Citing the information shared by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Metro said Havertz is keen on playing for Lampard as the youngster is said to be impressed with how the Blues boss is running things at Stamford Bridge.

At the same time, the 21-year-old is looking forward to playing on the same side as Werner. The two have developed a close friendship while representing Germany and are excited to extend their partnership wearing the Chelsea shirt, the report added.

However, while Lampard appears to enjoy an edge over rivals in the race to sign Havertz, he still needs to get the release clearance from Leverkusen. The German side has already made clear that the star will only get cleared upon payment of the £90 million transfer fee.

The Bundesliga club stressed no discount would be provided on the asking price, which Chelsea would be willing to pay but in installment.

Meanwhile, another compatriot of Havertz is reportedly putting on the good words for Chelsea to convince the youngster to suit up for the Blues next. Antonio Rudiger has been in close communication with Havertz in the last two weeks and for one reason - Rudiger is making a case for the winger to pick London as his new home, Talk Sport reported.

It's not the first time that Rudiger played the recruiter. Before Werner's deal with Chelsea was announced, the German was said to be instrumental in convincing Werner to sign with the Blues instead of rival Premier League clubs.

Rudiger coming into the negotiation has to carry significant weight because, like Werner, he also plays with Havertz for Germany. The possibility is high that the Bundesliga star would be sold to the idea of three Germany internationals working on the same side in England.

More so, Havertz could be drawn to the Blues by the promise of competing in the Champions League. Chelsea's standing on the league showed the club is at No. 3, indicating that Havertz's vision for playing with Lampard's side is fast shaping up.
