Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz is ready to move forward as reports from Germany claimed the Bundesliga sensation has sent a transfer request to his club. If the move out will happen in the summer, Havertz is rumored to sign with Chelsea.

It appeared that the Blues are preferred by the young German because of two things. One is that the side of Frank Lampard is on track to qualify for the Champions League, currently sitting on spot No. 3 of the Premier League table.

Most importantly, Lampard is said to be totally sold on the 21-year-old and thus willing to pay Leverkusen's asking price of £89 million.

According to Give Me Sport, Havertz's decision to leave his German side must have been prompted by Leverkusen's fifth-place finish in Bundesliga that shut the door on the club's bid for the Champions League. So it's imperative on Chelsea to win a UCL slot to further cement the signing of Havertz, described by pundits as "a mega-talent" and a younger version of Mesut Ozil.

If the signing is secured, the Blues will more than make up for the ban imposed on the club in the last two transfer windows. To date, Lampard has already won the signatures of Ajax star Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig ace Timo Werner.

As the same report indicated, Havertz is also on the radar of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, but the signs are pointing to the German more inclined to bet his future with the English side.

Havertz's chief reason in choosing Chelsea is the rush on his part to get out of Leverkusen in time for the next season's campaign. Metro said reports from Spain indicated that the attacking midfielder has caught the interest of Real Madrid, but the Spanish side will not make a move until the summer of 2021.

Another option is Bayern, but the Germans' recent acquisition of Leroy Sane from Manchester City will force the side to postpone another big hiring for next year. Supposedly, Havertz is not willing to wait that Chelsea came up as the best option available for him.

The Blues are on the lead to sign the German star due to their willingness to meet Bayer's price tag for Havertz. However, it remains to be seen if the selling side will approve the proposal coming from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will take in the Leverkusen star, but the terms of payment will be in installment. Initially, the English club will send an upfront payment of £62.9 million, and the balance will be settled in incentive payments. That means the buyer will owe the Germans £26.9 million that will be paid out as bonuses.

There is no word yet if the terms offered will be acceptable to Leverkusen, whose yes on the deal will signal Chelsea's acquisition of two promising German talents for the upcoming season.
