A new documentary about Prince William revealed that he was "really hurt" by the royal exit of his brother, Prince Harry. The Duke of Cambridge reportedly felt devastated about the Duke of Sussex's choice to take a different path.

The documentary, Prince William: Monarch in the Making, is now running on True Royalty TV, providing a closer look at the Duke of Cambridge's ascent and preparation as the future King of England. It also touches on some never-before-seen details about Prince William and Prince Harry's relationship.

Presented by royal journalist Roya Nikkhah and produced by Nick Bullen, the documentary has interviews of people close to Prince William. Bullen said that Prince William often turned to Prince Harry when something bothered him, especially about their life in a fishbowl and his brother's departure to live in Los Angeles with Meghan Markle left a huge hole.

Prince William reportedly encouraged Prince Harry to stay, however, nothing could change his brother's mind. The Duke of Cambridge also came to a realization about what it meant to put duty first, after Prince Harry initially wanted to have a part-time role as a working royal.

It was for this reason that Prince William became tough on Prince Harry during their family summit in Sandringham last January, shortly after the latter announced his step back. According to Bullen, Prince William told his brother he's "either in or out" because he now fully understood the duty of being a royal.

However, prior to the completion of the documentary, Bullen made it clear that Prince William and Prince Harry's rift has been patched up and their relationship is improving. Prince William: Monarch in the Making is available for viewing by subscription only.

Meanwhile, according to Hello, the documentary includes plenty of anecdotes about the British royal family that never made it to the final airing. It included one incident with Prince William and Prince Harry's encounter with a massive spider while on a trip to Botswana.

Apparently, the spider went inside the royals' tent and despite the number of protection officers with them, everyone was in a state of panic and uncertainty about how to get the creeper out. Bullen recalled that this incident was a great leveler and an unforgettable experience.

Bullen said that they originally had a different concept for Prince William: Monarch in the Making. But during the production, at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, it became more and more apparent that Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton were stepping up for the royal family.
