Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always been vocal to subjects that they are passionate about. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to discuss equal rights.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced backlash for their comments after a footage made rounds last week. Recently, Top Gear star and host of The Grand Tour Jeremy Clarkson slammed the Duke of Sussex for his remarks that The Commonwealth "must face up to its past.”
"It's hard to see why Harry has got his knickers in a twist about a well-meaning organization (The Commonwealth) that hasn't hurt so much as a fly in more than a hundred years,” Clarkson said.
Jeremy Clarkson is not the only one who criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial Commonwealth speech. TalkRadio's host Dan Wootton wondered why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were doing a sermon about the Commonwealth when the prince benefitted from it growing up.
Editor of Spiked Online Brendan O'Neil called the show, where he and Dan Wootton agreed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were two very privileged individuals. They noted that the public doesn't want to hear any lectures from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, especially after they have decided to quit royal life and moved to the U.S. to make a fresh start.
Robert Hardman, previously, pointed out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle used their appearance to do an intervention to the public instead of spreading optimism. He, then, claimed that Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family are unimpressed with the way the Duke and Duchess of Sussex handled the recent events.
Royal author and commentator Robert Jobson, previously, said that it is very easy for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to criticize something while they are thousands of miles away, living in a multi-million mansion. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are, currently, living in Los Angeles with their son Archie after they turned their backs on royal life.
He, then, accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of disrespecting Queen Elizabeth in their recent speech. Robert Jobson even pointed out that the Duchess of Sussex “doesn't understand the Commonwealth.”
A previous report also claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial speech about the Commonwealth, their upcoming unofficial book about their royal exit, and the former actress’s ongoing legal action against the Mail on Sunday could “worsen” their relationship with the Royal Family.
