Princess Anne is one of the most popular royals in the United Kingdom. Aside from her popularity, she is also one of the most hardworking ones.
For many years, she always aced the list of British royals with the most number of royal and public engagements. It was only in 2019 when Prince Charles got ahead of her by only a few.
Regardless of the positioning in this list, this does not change the fact that she has worked all her life as a senior royal. This is why, when she made a seemingly "snarky" remark toward the younger generation of royals, according to the Daily Express, it was not entirely surprising. However, it did raise a few questions as to whom she was referring to in her comments.
The publication said that Princess Anne believes that the British Royal Family has a "tried and tested" approach in terms of the members' duties and responsibilities. Accordingly, revolutionizing these approaches would not be "helpful."
She then reportedly said that one should not "forget the basics." Reports even shared that the Princess Royal described herself as a boring old "fuddy-duddy."
The Queen's only daughter further went on with her assertions stating that the younger generation does not likely understand what she was doing in the past. Instead of understanding these things, they would go look for a "new way" to do them, the royal, reportedly, said.
In the end, she seemingly pleaded and asked "this" younger generation of royal to not "reinvent" the royal wheel. She did not say, however, which royals are they.
When asked about it and, whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have taken offense to her statements, Princess Anne, reportedly, said that she would "get in touch." She did not mention the Duchess of Sussex, though, as she only mentioned her "nephew," the Duke of Sussex.
Ever since her youthful years, reports said that the Princess Royal is a "rebel." She "speaks her mind" even though if it "defies conventions," the source said.
In terms of her relationship with the younger royals, particularly the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it remains unclear as to how close she is with them. Despite the public's interest over Meghan's ties to the members of the British Royal Family, no one exactly knows how well her relationships are with the family.
In the end, though, many are reportedly certain that Princess Anne was talking about the Sussex couple as publications have deemed them to have sparked the "modernization" of the British Monarchy.
