Prince Charles was one of the first to eagerly reach out to his grandson, Prince George, on social media as the young royal celebrated his 7th birthday on Wednesday. While this may be nice and sweet, the Prince of Wales apparently had some issues with his grandson's birthday plans four years ago.

Daily Express recalled that time Prince Charles was quite upset that the Middletons took charge of Prince George's birthday plans. This happened during the young royal's third birthday, when Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate Middleton's parents, organized the party that had Prince Charles feeling left out.

The report stated that Prince Charles resented how much time Kate's parents had been able to spend with their grandchildren because they can be more flexible with their schedule as businesspeople. Apparently, the royal felt eased out of Prince George's life because he could not spend time enough with him due to his royal duties.

What was even more upsetting to the Prince of Wales was Prince William could spend more time with the Middletons than the royal family. A friend said that this became a sore spot for Prince Charles, especially when he would like to guide his son and grandson, who will become future kings one day.

Prince Charles apparently aspired to do more traditional family activities with Prince William and Kate's children to pass these on to the next generation. The royal, however, felt that the Middletons get more than their fair share of time with the Cambridges.

Buckingham Palace refused to comment when speculations on Prince Charles' sentiments against his in-laws became the talk of the town. The palace also didn't make statements about the allegedly growing divide between Prince Charles and his eldest son. That changed in recent times, however, as father and son have reportedly gotten more closer amid a family crisis.

According to Vanity Fair, Prince Charles and Prince William have been on the same wavelength since the Megxit drama with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Prince William realized the significance of his future role and has been taking his father's lead in learning about the family business, especially in managing the Duchy of Cornwall, which he will inherit from his father when Prince Charles is King.

During this pandemic lockdown, Prince Charles also kept in touch with Prince William, Kate and his grandchildren via video calls. Prince George and Princess Charlotte apparently often call their Grandpa Wales as often as they can when they have questions about raising animals or gardening.
