The Clippers are among the favorites to win the 2020 NBA title and for a good reason. The Los Angeles club is headlined by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and boosted by the likes of Patrick Beverley and Marcus Morris so it's no surprise that success for the powerhouse is just around the corner.

However, there is still space for improvements and more so if the Clippers failed on the goal to win the Larry O'Brien this season. It is a sure bet that things will be easier for Leonard and PG if a third superstar will be added to the mix - a big man in the mold of defensive specialist Rudy Gobert.

According to Zack Buckley of Bleacher Report: "If L.A. makes a bold move for Rudy Gobert, it could be looking at a historically dominant defense with an offense that still features two perimeter superstars."

It is true that the Clippers already are a formidable crew. The tandem of Leonard and George did wonders for the team. When the NBA season was suspended last March, the duo powered the club on top of the standings.

Buckley noted that the two Clippers superstars combined to make their team fourth in the league in terms of the number of victories in the season. The squad is riding high already and there is no compelling reason for Doc Rivers to do some tweaks.

However, Buckley is convinced Rivers' crew has a big hole inside and when pitted against the monster big men such as Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Joel Embiid, the flaw will be exposed readily.

That is why it's highly recommended to make a bid on the Utah Jazz center, who in recent months was rumored on his way out of his team due to his soured relationship with Donovan Mitchell. The two stars had a falling out following the COVID-19 pandemic that saw them catching the virus.

Gobert was patient zero for the coronavirus and was supposedly blamed by Mitchell for bringing the bug to the Jazz locker room.

If indeed Gobert and Mitchell cannot work together anymore, then the Clippers should take the opportunity to bring the French native to Los Angeles during the offseason.

Fadeaway World said Gobert would be perfect to fill the void that exists on the Clippers lineup. The big man will boost the team's defensive capability and he has the credentials backing this prowess. Gobert was awarded the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year twice, which should tell he is the man to tap for the Clippers to have an imposing presence inside the paint.

Should Gobert become available, the Clippers could easily become the best defensive team in the NBA not only for the upcoming season but likely the all-time best, the report added.
