Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan and husband, Michael Kopech, are divorcing. The MLB player filed for divorce, just six months after they got married and a few days after Morgan announced she is pregnant.

The Chicago Tribune reported Kopech filed for divorce on June 19. The case was sealed and no hearing has been scheduled as of yet. The couple hasn't released an official statement about the divorce yet.

Apparently, Morgan and Kopech dated for more than a year before the latter proposed to the actress in July 2019. They tied the knot in an extravagant ceremony in Florida earlier this year and Vanessa's Riverdale co-star Madelaine Petsch served as a bridesmaid at her wedding.

Over the weekend, Morgan revealed on Instagram that she is pregnant with her first baby with the White Sox pitcher. She shared photos and a video from a gender reveal party, a picture of her positive pregnancy test, and a clip from her very first ultrasound.

However, it can be noticed that Kopech was absent in the photos and videos. Morgan also, repeatedly, used "I" instead of "we" in the lengthy caption of her post. Kopech last appeared on Morgan's Instagram account on April 30 when they celebrated his birthday.

Earlier this month, the Sox announced that the Kopech decided not to participate in the shortened 2020 MLB season, citing "personal reasons." Reports have it that the 24-year-old athlete also opted out of his team's summer camp workouts to attend to a personal matter.

Vanessa Morgan revealed in her recent IG post that she is expecting a baby boy and she is due to give birth in January. The actress added that she first decided to keep her pregnancy a secret.

However, Vanessa said she knew people would eventually see pictures of her with a baby bump so she decided to share the good news herself. Nonetheless, Vanessa said she still intends to make her pregnancy journey private.

Morgan is known for playing the role of tough highschooler Toni Topaz in The CW series, Riverdale. The 28-year-old actress, earlier, called out the executive of the series for its unfair treatment of black actors and the stereotypical portrayal of black characters.

Morgan added she felt like she was being used as the "token biracial bisexual" on the show. She, also, revealed that she was paid the least in the series compared to her white co-stars.

In response to Vanessa Morgan's tweet, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa vowed to make the series a more diverse and inclusive space. He said there will be changes in the show and it will start at their writers' room.
