Kate Middleton and Prince William reportedly visited Tresco in the Isles of Scilly this week for a lovely staycation with their children. The beach town holiday spot apparently holds a lot of special memories for the Duke of Cambridge.

According to People, Prince William used to visit this southwest England island as a young kid with Prince Charles, Princess Diana and Prince Harry. His current trip with his own kids is their first real travel outside of their Norfolk home, where the Cambridges have been staying since the coronavirus lockdown.

The U.K. eased on local travel this week so Prince William and Kate took the opportunity to bring Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to the duke's childhood vacation spot. Other tourists told Daily Mirror that they saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge biking around the beach town with their children. Witnesses said that the family appeared to be enjoying their vacation.

According to Hello, Tresco is a remote island 30 miles off the west of Cornwall. It's almost uninhabited with thousands of greens, plenty of coves, and pristine white sandy beaches. The weather at Tresco is different from the mainland U.K. It's warmer with blue skies compared to the often chilly and overcast weather in Cornwall.

The trip comes amid tensions in the Palace over the upcoming release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's biography Finding Freedom. Excerpts from the book were published this week, revealing more details about the Sussex's fallout with the royal family, particularly Prince William and Kate.

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand confirmed that Prince William warned his brother to take it slow with "that girl," Meghan. The book alleged that Kate didn't make efforts to be close to Meghan because they allegedly had nothing in common.

According to a source, Prince William is not happy with the book's release and thinks it's a way to control the narrative and bring public opinion in their favor. Prince Harry and Meghan's publicists, however, deny that the Sussex pair were directly involved with the book. A spokesperson said that Prince Harry and Meghan were never personally interviewed for the stories.

Meanwhile, Prince William will be back to his royal duties after the short family trip in Tresco. The Duke of Cambridge is on the last leg of his Heads Up mental health campaign at the FA Cup final and will update on a new initiative.
