The search engine giant announced earlier today three new smartphones arriving this year. While the Google Pixel 4a 5G and the Google Pixel 5 are due to arrive in the Fall of this year, the Pixel 4a is now available for pre-order and will arrive on August 20. Here is a rundown on the difference in terms of specs and design of the new Google Pixel 4a and its predecessor the Google Pixel 3a.

Google Pixel 3a vs. Pixel 4a: Design

Finally, Google announced today its latest mid-range smartphone in the market the Pixel 4a. This year, the company went with a single model with a display size that covers its predecessors. The company maintains its design philosophy with the new Pixel 4a with a polycarbonate body, a square camera bump and a fingerprint reader at the back.

The major difference between the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 4a is the front. While the Pixel 3a has thick bezels, the new Pixel 4a features an almost bezel-less front. It also replaced the notch with a hole-punch located in the upper left corner. The Pixel 4a still has the headphone jack. As a whole, the simple design of the Google Pixel 4a makes it a worth mid-range smartphone, although it is only available in Black color.

Google Pixel 3a vs. Pixel 4a: Specs

The Google Pixel 4a houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SM7150-AA SoC while the Pixel 3a features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SDM670. In terms of processor, the new mid-range smartphone sports the Octa-core, 2200 MHz, Kryo 470, 64-bit, 8 nm while its predecessor has the Octa-core, 2000 MHz, Kryo 360, 64-bit, 10 nm. The pixel 4a also has a more powerful Adreno 618 compared to the Adreno 615 GPU of the Pixel 3a.

In terms of RAM, the Google Pixel 4a features 6GB LPDDR4, while its predecessor only has 4GB LPDDR4. The latest mid-range smartphone also received an internal storage bump with 128GB, not expandable memory than the 64 GB of the Pixel 3a. Both devices rely on USB power delivery, but the Pixel 4a has a higher battery capacity, which is 3140 mAh.

Google Pixel 3a vs. Pixel 4a: Camera Specs

The Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 4a sport the same 12.2 MP single rear camera. However, the Pixel 4a features Aperture size: F1.7; Pixel size: 1.4 μm while its predecessor sports Aperture size: F1.8; Focal length: 28 mm; Sensor size: 1/2.55"; Pixel size: 1.4 μm. Both devices have the same 8 MP front shooters capable of 1920x1080 (Full HD) (30 fps) video capture.
