The Bavarians are unwilling to spend big on the transfer market again after the £44 million signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City, according to Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness. His statement should serve as a boost for Chelsea's pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

Havertz is a top target by Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and with Bayern seemingly out of the way now, the Blues are now in pole position to win the German playmaker's signature in the upcoming transfer window.

The 21-year-old caught the attention of the elite clubs in Europe for his sensational run in the season. He found the net 12 times in Bundesliga and figured in six more successful goals. At the close of the football season in Germany, Havertz boasts of 45 goals in a total of 148 games in all competitions since 2016.

The impressive stats certainly got the giant teams like Bayern to recruit Havertz but as Hoeness said, his side is already out of the running.

"I am sure that after Leroy Sane there will be no major transfers this year," Goal reported the Bayern chief as saying.

The executive explained that money is tight due to the coronavirus pandemic and allocating huge money for summer signing is out of the question for Bayern. The only way that his side can secure new hires is through the selling of players that are part of the Bavarians' roster, Hoeness added.

However, the club chief stopped short of saying that he still intends to make a bid on Havertz in case his side can generate the cash on possible players' sales.

The declared position by Bayern makes it easier for Chelsea to complete the move on the attacking midfielder, who reportedly has agreed on personal terms to join the Premier League side next season.

Sane himself dropped clues on the imminent switch to be made by the Bundesliga sensation. When the former City man was unveiled by Bayern weeks ago, he mentioned the rising German talents that he believed will be part of the Chelsea roster in the upcoming campaigns, according to Metro.

"Many young players get their chance and develop well in the Bundesliga. I think that with [Timo] Werner and Havertz, which are two Germans in one year, Chelsea did a good job," Sane was reported as saying.

Werner recently left RB Leipzig and signed with the Blues and earlier, Lampard got Hakim Ziyech of Ajax to join his roster. The Chelsea boss, however, is seen to close the deal soon on Havertz to complete the upgrade he is implementing in the West London club.
