Tom Cruise was, allegedly, eyeing to date Angelina Jolie. The Mission Impossible actor, reportedly, offered an "indecent proposal" to Jolie but the actress turned him down.

New Idea published a story this week with the title "Tom's indecent proposal to Ange." In its article, it stated Cruise called Jolie and gave her a "dating opportunity."

The tabloid cited a supposed friend of the actor, who claimed Cruise is looking for a new bridge and thought the Maleficent actress could be the best choice. The Jack Reacher actor, allegedly, called Jolie to ask her out but Brad Pitt's ex-wife politely turned down his invitation.

Jolie, reportedly, told Cruise that her children are her priority at the moment. The tabloid claimed Tom was pretty hurt by the rejection because he thought he gave Jolie a great offer.

Gossip Cop dismissed the story as purely fabricated. The publication noted that, if New Idea was trying to base Tom Cruise's dating life to the Indecent Proposal movie, it failed big time.

Gossip Cop noted the 1993 movie was one of the iconic films that Cruise turned down. The lead character that Cruise was supposed to play was portrayed by Robert Redford.

The outlet stressed, though Cruise did not end up doing the movie, it doesn't mean he would try to play John Gage in real life now. It could be noted that in the movie, wealthy bachelor John Gage (Redford) offers the couple, Diana (Demi Moore) and David Murphy (Woody Harrelson), a million dollars if Diana would sleep with him. Gossip Cop stressed Moore's character in the movie needs money, Angelina Jolie doesn't.

The outlet added it doesn't make sense using the premise of a movie to link Cruise and Jolie in a romantic relationship. But, Gossip Cop said it wasn't completely surprising for New Idea to come up with stories like this. It noted that last year, the same tabloid claimed Cruise was eyeing Demi Moore to be his next "Scientology bride."

Gossip Cop, also, mentioned that what made this story more unbelievable was the connection between Cruise and Jolie. It noted that it's hard to believe that the Top Gun actor would just give Jolie a call when they were not even friends.

The two are not known to be pals or have worked together in a project. They almost did in Universal's Dark Universe movie. However, after Cruise's The Mummy received negative reviews from critics and viewers, Warner Bros decided to cancel Jolie's The Bride of Frankenstein.

The only reason that Gossip Cop could think of why Cruise and Jolie were being linked to each other is that they are both single at the moment. Cruise was rumored dating fellow Scientologist Elisabeth Moss, Laura Prepon, and Yolanda Pecoraro after he and ex-wife, Katie Holmes, split in 2012.

As for Jolie, she was linked with some celebrities after she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016. However, those claimed remained as rumors.
