Meghan Markle was a Hollywood actress before she met and married Prince Harry. With her celebrity background many believed she would handle the pressure of being a member of the Royal Family well. They were wrong.

While the Duchess of Sussex tried to adapt to royal life there were things she wasn't allowed to do that reportedly "frustrated" her. There were allegations made about Meghan that she wanted to publicly address - but was prohibited from doing so.

"She's been frustrated by the fact that she's not been able to give her side of the story. All kinds of stories have come out about her and she's not been able to answer back - and it's something she's found immensely frustrating," Princess Diana's biographer Andrew Morton said.

He felt sorry for Meghan because she married into a "very difficult family." Morton said the duchess didn't know a lot about British history and culture but was plunged into the scene after marrying Harry in 2018.

Meghan filed a lawsuit against the publisher of The Mail on Sunday and MailOnline for publishing part of a private letter to her estranged father Thomas Markle in 2018. In the documents, the duchess's legal team claimed she was "unprotected by the institution and prohibited from defending herself." Her friends were reportedly worried about her welfare - especially because she was vulnerable at the time.

Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers said that Meghan was "particularly unhappy" at how she was treated by the royal family and the fact that she was restricted from responding to articles publicly. He said the lawsuit was a "massive power play" by Meghan and her lawyers.

This isn't the first time Meghan has suggested the royal family didn't support her. The duchess opened up about her struggles to British journalist Tom Bradby in the documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey" last year.

The television presenter asked Meghan Markle about the effect of public scrutiny. The duchess thanked him for asking how she was because "not many people" have asked - hinting that the royal family didn't care about her.
