The latter storyline could complicate things, leading to some tensions between Shin and Max Goodwin.
Max and Sharpe are drifting away from each other and the latter will possibly enter a romantic relationship with Shin. The situation could be a little bit awkward for the three, as Max may witness them dating on sidelines. Sharpe's newfound romance could impact her bond with Max in a huge way.
Max and Sharpe will experience a lot of changes in New Amsterdam season 3, especially since there is a new man that captures Sharpe's attention. Their relationship might be tainted, which could lead to them permanently drifting apart.
A potential conflict between Shin and Max may further arise because of their differences, especially in the medical approach. In a recent report from TVLine, producer-showrunner David Schulner said that even if Sharpe wasn't in the middle of it, there's still a tension between them in New Amsterdam season 3.
Schulner explained that Max and Shin's approach is completely opposite, as well as their philosophies about the care. In the previous season, Shin showcased what he can do as a doctor. He was able to take a very specific medical approach, which is not doing more than he has for his patients.
Shin believes that his actions could give him the best chance at operating at a high level. In addition, he always makes sure he is prepared and focus, even if it means a very strict pre-surgery routine. He is taking his time, instead of running around and rushing everything.
Meanwhile, the series hasn't started filming yet due to the real-life health crisis. There's still uncertainty as to when production could begin even though New York has flattened the curve. Some safety measures and health guidelines should be followed first before starting anything.
CarterMatt noted that New Amsterdam season 3 could begin filming either August or September. Yet, there's no confirmation from cast and crew that they could start working in the mentioned months. But, if this plan will push through, we could see the new installment arriving around October or November.
