It's official: Wonho is back after a lengthy hiatus brought about by his departure from MONSTA X to lay low amidst numerous controversy. Amazingly, Lee Hoseok is proving that his return as a solo artist was aided by the people who supported him along the way.

Wonho's first solo track "Losing You" just got a heartbreaking music video. Not surprisingly, the soloist himself confirmed that it is a small tribute to the fans who fought for him during a difficult period.

Earlier this month, Wonho's solo album Love Synonym (#1) Right For You was announced and would be released in the first week of September. A teaser for the first song from the mini-album "Losing You" was immediately released, hyping up Monbebes and Wenees alike with a single line, "Coz losing me is better than you."

Needless to say, people were excited about the track, which was initially believed to be written for his former group MONSTA X as well as his fans. Wenees speculated that it would be a heartbreaking ballad considering that Lee Hoseok is known for writing and composing emotional songs in the past.

On August 14, the music video for "Losing You" was released and it did not disappoint. The sweet ballad showed Wonho in various scenes of despair but concluded with a hauntingly hopeful shot as he stands in front of an ocean of lightsticks, an obvious reference to the fans whose support for him never wavered.

Interestingly, "Losing You" was co-written by Wonho with A-list songwriters Corey Sanders, Jon Mcguire, and Neil Ormandy. The English-language track is evidently a true love song but Lee Hoseok was quick to point out that the true inspiration behind the lyrics were his fans, who he had lovingly given the fandom name Wenee.

"This is a love song, but also I would say it is [about] the love and appreciation I have for my fans as well," Wonho told Rolling Stone. "I'm here today because of them, and the thought of losing them was the hardest thing I could think of."

Wonho also explained how the song expresses how one would feel in a relationship. "For me, 'Losing You' is about the connection between people, and the selflessness of loving someone so much that you'll become one with them and they become even more important to you than yourself," he said.

Wonho's first solo album Love Synonym (#1) Right For You is currently available for pre-order. It will be released on September 4.
