Manny Pacquiao is one of many fighters left to wait if the chance to enter the boxing ring is feasible. With the COVID-19 pandemic far from getting contained, Team Pacquiao's plans could be altered moving forward. But for as long as the coronavirus does not go beyond the early part of 2021, trainer Freddie Roach believes that the Filipino boxer is on track of his goal of fighting at least two more times before focusing on the presidency of the Philippines.

Speaking to Boxingscene, Roach revealed that Pacquiao plans two more fights before calling it a career. From there, he also added that the Pac-Man plans to focus on his political ambitions with Roach joking around that he would like to run Pacquiao's campaign.

“Manny would like to fight a couple of more times and then run for the presidency of his country,” Roach said. “The first fighter to ever do that and it will be another part of his history and I think he will be really good at.”

Assuming that Pacquiao can fulfill that goal, the question in most people's minds right now is who the 41-year-old fighter will face. There were several names mentioned by Roach, some of whom were not that surprising.

The first one on the list is Floyd Mayweather Jr. Though both camps have failed to come to terms, Pacquiao has not entirely closed the door on a sequel. Though the undefeated American fighter has not fought for some time now, the likelihood of this happening is not looking so good.

If not Mayweather, Mikey Garcia looms as a sensible next opponent. The four-time division world titleholder is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jesse Vargas last February and has shown interest in facing the Pac-Man.

Another name that could make sense for Pacquiao is Terence Crawford. A title unification bout would be an interesting showdown between the two former Top Rank stablemates. It was a fight that Arum had wanted to make before but Pacquiao had no interest in facing Crawford. According to Roach, all that has changed now.

“Arum’s fighter is making a lot of noise, Terence Crawford. I think Terence Crawford is a very good fighter and maybe one of the toughest fights in the world for Manny but it wouldn’t be somebody I would turn down,” Roach said.

Gennady Golovkin is another fighter that Pacquiao has been linked to. But with the eight-time division champion not keen on moving up in weight, those plans have been scratched. For Roach, that is too much weight to handle but anything can happen if Pacquiao wills it.

“I don’t think 160 is really viable but you never know with Manny Pacquiao. But the thing is we all know it’s his decision and he’ll make the right one," Roach said.
