UFC Dana White strongly believes that boxing fans will see Floyd Mayweather in action soon. Though some may have grown tired of his constant tirades of making a ring return, the UFC top brass is practically certain that he can facilitate something. All he needs right now is time.

Given that the sporting world is in a bind right now due to the restrictions enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, White has all the time in the world to get his act together. The good news is that he is constantly in touch with the 43-year-old retired boxer and maintains that Mayweather is truly looking for a fight. The UFC prexy was discussing the possibilities with Mayweather with Kevin Iole during an Instagram Live interview.

“He wants to fight. We’re going to probably ... listen, I’m dealing with all the (expletive) that’s going on with 2020 right now. Floyd and I want to work together. We want to do something. We’re going to do something. I just need a little more time to get my (expletive) together,” White said.

Assuming that White is determined to make it happen, the only other thing likely confirmed right now is that it will be a boxing match. Mayweather had already made it clear in the past that he has no interest fighting in the cage and will only entertain a boxing match, Boxingscene reported.

“No [I won’t compete in MMA]. I think just like how winning teams receive a home-field advantage in the playoffs … you don't fix what isn't broken, and my record isn't broken,” Mayweather said.

Aside from White, Mayweather is reportedly also in touch with Rizin. It appears an alternative would be another boxing match featuring another mixed martial arts fighter. To recall, Mayweather faced Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve of 2018. The American boxer had an easy time against the inexperienced Japanese though the returns were lucrative. Mayweather reportedly earned roughly $9 million for that match.

It is possible that this may be one of his options moving forward. But in the eyes of most, this still does not count as an official boxing match. Manny Pacquiao remains the top candidate by most to face Mayweather though seeing that happen is seen as moot.

Also, Mayweather recently that he will fight only when he wants to. He has already more than enough money and doesn’t need a big fight to add to his millions in earnings.
