Award-winning actress Olivia Colman has fears that Queen Elizabeth doesn't appreciate her portrayal of the monarch in Netflix's The Crown. The actress said that she's under a lot of pressure to deliver a perfect performance in case the Queen watches the series.

Speaking with Daily Mirror, Colman said that she second guesses herself when she's playing Queen Elizabeth on The Crown. She always raises questions in her head about doing the interpretation "completely wrong" that she's convinced the Queen doesn't like her work.

Colman admits that she sometimes finds it "slightly annoying" that they are playing people on the show who are still alive since the audience have their own basis and ideas of the characters. This, apparently, adds to the pressure of portraying Queen Elizabeth for the screen so perfectly because she is a very familiar personality to the viewers.

The actress took over as Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy. Colman made her debut in the third season, which aired in 2019 and she's still the Queen in the fourth season, which will air on the streaming platform later this year.

For The Crown season 5 and 6, however, Colman will pass the crown to Harry Potter actress Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth. Netflix, also, announced casting changes for the last two seasons with Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. They are taking over for Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham-Carter and Emma Corin, respectively.

Netflix is, also, expected to announce the new Prince Charles for the final seasons. Josh O'Connor plays the Prince of Wales for The Crown season 3 and 4.

Meanwhile, reports have it that Queen Elizabeth did watch the early seasons of The Crown. Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret for season 1 and 2, said in a Vanity Fair interview that her friend heard Princess Eugenie at a party, who said that her "granny watches" the series and actually likes it.

According to Hello, Princess Eugenie feels proud of The Crown because of the beautiful story of her grandparents. The Queen's youngest son and daughter-in-law, Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, also, reportedly binged the series and told friends to get Netflix so that they can watch the show.

Colman, on the other hand, had a personal encounter with Prince William at a dinner engagement in 2019. Unfortunately, the second in line to the throne directly told the actress that he doesn't watch The Crown.

Incidentally, a young Prince William will be introduced in The Crown season 4. Netflix has not announced the actual release date of the latest installment, as of press time.
