Chromebooks are favorite devices among budget-conscious consumers and students that may not want to jump into the pricier and more powerful Window-based notebooks or MacBook. While they are not that powerful, Chromebooks are secure, easy to use, affordable, and optimized for web apps. With a new feature, Chromebooks users could transform the device into a high-performing gaming machine.

Recently, Nvidia announced that the GeForce Now, a cloud-gaming platform, is now available for Chromebooks. The chipmaker assured consumers that getting started with GeForce Now on Chromebook is easy. Users do not need to download or install any app, they simply have to go to play.geforcenow.com and log in with their GeForce Now accounts.

According to Forbes, GeForce Now, being accessible on Chromebook foreshadows the possibility that the cloud-gaming platform could soon become accessible through the Chrome browser on various devices. Nvidia continues to make the GeForce Now service accessible to new and potential customers. While the possibility of accessing the gaming service on various devices might not be possible now, it is just a matter of time before the company makes this happen.

Unlike other devices, Chromebooks are lightweight and offer a longer battery life. Nvidia encourages interested consumers who want to use the GeForce Now on their Chromebooks to get a dedicated USB mouse. Armed with a mouse and a stable internet connection, Chromebook users could turn their machines into gaming devices.

Google Chromebooks became increasingly popular, especially during this current global health crisis. Thurrott recently reported that the sales of Chromebook increased by 127% YOY from March to June. Regular laptops might have limited inventory, and some users probably opted to cheaper Chromebooks.

For those not familiar with Nvidia GeForce Now, it is a cloud gaming service that allows players to stream as many available games that they have bought on storefronts such as Epic Games and Steam. Currently, the service is free, but it is only limited to an hour of play sessions. Nvidia GeForce Now Founders access, meanwhile, allows users to enjoy unlimited playtime for a month by paying the monthly $5 subscription fee.

The company is also offering a limited-time six months of Founders access. It comes with some exclusive Hyper Scape content for just $25. At present, the Nividia GeForce Now cloud gaming service supports more than 650 games.
