Mayans M.C. season 3 won't be dropping its new episodes this year on FX. Just like most of the other shows out there, the series hasn't started filming at the moment due to the current global health crisis. But, it seems like the upcoming installment is taking small steps to start up everything soon.
Previously, series star J.D. Pardo teased on Twitter that they are getting closer to filming Mayans M.C. season 3. The physical production hasn't kicked off yet as they're still in the process of going through with the COVID-19 guidelines. But, the actor made it clear that they're inching closer to going back to work.
Also, Pardo promised fans that he'll let everyone know when the new season has an official date. Yet, it is unlikely the series will return at some point this year considering the current circumstances. The delay has been quite long already, so it would be challenging for everyone to release it immediately.
Even if production could begin in September or October, a lot of work are still needed to be done -- such as editing. For now, the biggest filming challenge is finding a way how to shoot and make things work amid the global health crisis.
Cast and crew need to comply with health guidelines to make sure everyone on the set is safe. Mayans M.C. season 3 might look different this time around, as well. Usually, it features a lot of characters in confined spaces and up-close-and-personal sequences. Some of these might be reduced and limited now.
Meanwhile, the first two seasons focused on EZ (Pardo) settling in the M.C. culture. The second installment ended with a huge cliffhanger, in which EZ finally receiving his full patch and now an official Mayan M.C. member. In the final scene, the gang members were standing in front of a dead body.
Mayans M.C. season 3 could pick up the events that happened in the season 2 finale. It remains to be seen who was killed, given that the face was never shown. Aside from that, the upcoming installment will have new stories, mostly focusing on gang politics.
Moreover, the series opens a new chapter for the Mayans, particularly for EZ. Things could get even more intense since there's a literal war between Mayans and Vatos Malditas. These are just some of the interesting stories worth-exploring in the latest installment.
Mayans M.C. season 3 could premiere at some point in 2021.
