Jimin is undoubtedly one of the most famous individuals in K-pop. His popularity is not limited to being a member of BTS, the biggest boy band on the planet right now, because people are instantly drawn to him with or without RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, and Jungkook.
This phenomenon has been turned into a tagline: “Once you JimIN, you can’t JimOUT.” Meaning, once you’ve discovered Jimin, there’s no turning back.
As if his good looks and amazing singing and dancing skills are not enough, Jimin is also one of the most kind-hearted and sweetest idols out there. The other BTS members and ARMYs know the “Filter” singer as this kind of person, but has he always been like this?
Jimin’s friend shares what he was really like in high school. Kim Daehoon uploaded a Q&A on social media, and he noted that many of the inquiries were about the BTS star.
Just like Jimin, Kim Daehoon is also from Busan and went to Seoul to study. He happened to be sitting next to the BTS star when he attended an arts high school during their teenage years. The pair struck up a friendship, and their bond lasted to this day.
Kim Daehoon shared that Jimin fit right in with other students and was very engaging with friends. “Jimin thought he was a quiet person, but he turned out to be an active friend. Jimin had a nice personality, so he quickly adjusted to school,” he said.
Physically, Kim Daehoon said that Jimin changed a lot because he used to have chubby cheeks. He was more on the cute side, wherein the BTS star is now considered to be sexy. But Jimin’s baby face was featured numerous times during the group’s pre-debut vlogs. (Check out the photo here).
However, Kim Daehoon was shocked by Jimin’s athletic and toned body. Since the “Promise” singer had a cute face, he didn’t expect that JM had a muscular physique.
At the time, Jimin was a trainee. But even though he hs already reached superstardom status, he still keeps in touch with Kim Daehoon and meets up with him occasionally.
“I realized that not everyone will change after they become successful, people who are kind-hearted will still be very kind,” Kim Daehoon said.
BTS members are known for their humility despite their success. While most celebrities would let fame and fortune go up to their heads, the group has never forgotten where they came from and have always remained grateful to their family, friends and fans.
