U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla recently rolled out a new software update that introduces a lot of features including the Speed Assist Improvements. The company has begun to crack down hackers. It recently rolled out a patch to the performance boost unlock.

New Tesla Speed Assist Improvements And More

On August 29, Tesla began rolling out the 2020.36 software update, which comes with multiple new features. This includes the Speed Assist Improvements. In its release notes, Tesla states that Speed Assist now uses the vehicle's cameras to detect speed limit signs.

Through this, Tesla owners could have an improved speed limit data accuracy even on local roads. These detected speed limit signs would be shown in the Tesla vehicle's driving visualization and could be used to set the associated Speed Limit Warning. Tesla owners can adjust the setting of the new Speed Assist feature by tapping Controls, Autopilot, then Speed Limit.

In addition to this, Tesla also introduced the new Green Traffic Light Chime for the Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control feature of its fleet. When the traffic light turns green, a chime would play. When the car is behind another car, the chime will play as soon as the car in front advances.

However, this would not sound if the Tesla vehicle's Autosteer or Traffic-Aware Cruise Control is active. Meanwhile, when the car's Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control is activated, a chime would play when the driver confirms to proceed through a green light traffic. This feature can be enabled by accessing Controls, Autopilot, then Green Traffic Light Chime.

The chime is only a notification, Tesla reminded owners. It is still the driver's responsibility to observe the environment and make sound decisions, the U.S. vehicle maker said. Apart from these, Tesla also introduced several cruise set enhancements in the latest software update. Tesla vehicles can now quickly adjust the Traffic Aware Cruise Control or set the Autosteer speed to the current speed by tapping the speedometer cluster.

Tesla Cracks Down Hackers

Meanwhile, Tesla now starts cracking down hackers. Over the past few months, there were reports about how Ingenext developed the first hack that allowed tesla vehicle owners to unlock a software-locked acceleration boost. Surprisingly, the hack costs only half the amount Tesla is charging its clients.

Tesla is now beginning to fight back against this hack. Several days ago, the U.S vehicle maker released a new patch through a software update to counter this.
