Prince Harry has not been with his grandfather, Prince Philip, in person for more than a year. The coronavirus pandemic has prevented the Duke of Sussex from flying back home to London but he hadn't seen his grandfather even before the world went into a lockdown.

Prince Philip was originally going to join the Sandringham Summit to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal exit in January. However, Prince Philip decided to skip the crisis talks with his grandson and left Sandringham to return to Wood Farm, according to Daily Mail

Before the Sandringham Summit, Prince Harry was in Canada for the 2019 holidays with Meghan, Archie and their friends. He and Meghan also didn't join the royal family for their traditional summer celebrations that year.

Reports stated that the Duke of Sussex struggled to see his grandfather, who retired from public life in 2017. Since his retirement, the Duke of Edinburgh was spending most of his time at Wood Farm long before isolation became necessary. The elderly royal wasn't even staying with Queen Elizabeth for weeks and months because he preferred to live at his farm than in Buckingham Palace.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth did invite Prince Harry and Meghan last March to spend their summer holiday with the royal family. Unfortunately, the trip had to be canceled because of the travel risks as the Sussex couple will be flying in from the U.S.

According to insiders, Prince Harry is upset that he will miss the Balmoral visit. Meghan, on the other hand, isn't too bothered since she's busy putting decorating their new mansion in Santa Barbara.

Prince Harry, however, recently declared that he will definitely not miss one major event in London. The Duke of Sussex said that he doesn't plan on skipping the World Cup in 2021 since England will host the event.

Royal experts also think that Prince Harry ang Meghan will be back in London by July 2021 for the unveiling of the statue of Princess Diana in Kensington Palace. Potentially, the Sussexes might finally take up on that offer to spend the summer in Balmoral by August 2021 as well. By then, Archie will be a lot older and will appreciate the fun events that usually take place in the Queen's summer house.

Before Prince Harry decided to leave London or skip the holidays with the royals, many royal experts criticized him for the decision. They think that the Duke of Sussex should make an effort to be with Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth since they don't have enough time left as 99 and 94 years old, respectively.
