Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making a fresh start in the U.S. after they officially turned their backs on royal life at the end of March. The couple had been heavily rumored to join the entertainment scene after their withdrawal, and their deal with a popular American online streaming service just proved that speculation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multiyear deal with Netflix to create TV series, films and children's shows. While many are excited for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new venture, some couldn't help but compare it to the Obamas.

Former U.S. President Barack and his wife Michelle Obama had a production deal with Netflix in 2018. The couple also produced shows and films.

As if that's not enough, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix statement bears a striking resemblance to the Obamas. The former first couple shared that they "believe each of these productions won't just entertain but will educate, connect and inspire us all."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said in their statement that they want to focus on content "that informs but also gives hope." The Obamas have denied giving any advice to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have hinted several times that they want to follow in their footsteps.

Back in July, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a deal with New York-based Harry Walker Agency, which is the same one as former U.S. President Barack Obama. Its other high-profile clients include Hillary and Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

But it wasn't the first time that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemingly followed the Obamas. The connection reportedly stretched back as far as 2016 when Michelle Obama traveled to Morocco and Liberia to promote gender equality with the Let Girls Learn initiative. In February 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also went to Morocco to prioritize the same cause.

Since Meghan Markle also supports similar causes as Michelle Obama, the Duchess of Sussex is thought to have a special relationship with the former first lady.

Just like Michelle Obama, Meghan Markle also did her best as the wife of a very prominent person in his country. However, the Duchess of Sussex didn't seem to handle the tough situation too well as she and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal roles just two years after they got married.
