Line of Duty season 6 halted its production earlier this year due to the current global health crisis. Filming was underway the time when it was forced to shut down because of the pandemic. But, the good news is that cast and crew resume working now.

Following the announcement that Line of Duty season 6 resumes filming, BBC released a series of statements from some of the show's key players. Writer and executive producer Jed Mercurio said that they're hoping to get the latest installment on air as soon as possible.

Martin Compston, who plays as Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott, noted that they'll be working in a different way now, compared from where they stopped earlier this year. But, he is also delighted they are back on the case with the team.

For Vicky McClure, who plays Detective Inspector Kate Fleming, she is looking forward to getting back to work and see everyone again. Adrian Dunbar, who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings, said he can't hide his excitement despite some restrictions due to the pandemic.

Prior to the production shutdown, Line of Duty season 6 has been sharing details as to what viewers can expect next. In fact, BBC released some behind-the-scenes photos to announce that production has kicked off. One of the photos featured Supt. Ted Hastings wearing his uniform behind the clapperboard.

In another image, DS Steve Arnott can be seen and seemingly leading a briefing. The upcoming installment will pick up the events that happened in season 5 finale and will have an 18-month time jump. The AC-12 explores new cases, but they're mostly focusing on Kelly Macdonald's Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson.

She is a senior investigating officer on an unsolved murder case. However, she falls under suspicion because of her unconventional behavior. No further details were revealed about this character. However, Joanne Davidson is described as the most enigmatic adversary AC-12 has ever faced.

Moreover, Line of Duty season 6 will continue to follow other interesting storylines. The fifth installment concluded with a massive cliffhanger. There are speculations that Ted Hastings is the mythical H, who is said to be involved in high-level corruption and have an organized crime syndicate.

As for who else is coming back, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Perry Fitzpatrick, Prasanna Puwanarajah, and Andi Osho are all expected to return. The official release date of Line of Duty season 6 hasn't been revealed as of yet. However, it could arrive either later this year or in early 2021.
