The filming of the upcoming The Batman movie has been shut down, once again, because of coronavirus. But, this time around, it's because lead actor, Robert Pattinson, tested positive for the deadly virus.

The production of Matt Reeves' Cape Crusader movie resumed a few days ago after it was halted in March due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, it was suspended again after Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.

Warner Bros released a statement confirming that a member of the production team tested positive for the virus and has been self-isolating per the established health protocols. However, it did not say who it was.

Vanity Fair, later on, reported that it was Pattinson. The publication cited a source who revealed that the 34-year-old actor caught the virus days after the production resumed near London. RPatz hasn't released a statement about the matter yet.

The Batman production was filming in Glasgow, Scotland earlier this year when it was suspended due to the coronavirus. Since then, Pattinson has been quarantining in London.

This new delay could further push back the release date of The Batman. The movie was initially scheduled to premiere in June 2021 but it has been pushed back to October 2021 when the production was halted earlier this year.

Aside from Robert Pattinson, The Batman also stars Zoë Kravitz (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), Colin Farrell (Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin), and Paul Dano (The Riddler). Actors Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner James Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred), and John Turturro (Carmine Falcone) are also in the upcoming DC movie.

Last month, the Twilight actor made a surprise appearance during the virtual DC Comics' FanDome event. Warner Bros also offered fans a glimpse of Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman. The film studio released a teaser for the DC movie and so far, it has over 20 million views on Youtube.

Meanwhile, Pattinson gave an in-depth profile interview with GQ in May while in quarantine in London. The Remember Me actor revealed that he was on a recommended diet and workout that The Batman production staff gave him. Pattinson said, when the lockdown started, his trainer left him instead with some equipment that he can use for his home workout along with a plea to use them.

However, the actor said he is not interested to buff up for the role, despite pressure from the film studio. Robert Pattinson explained that he doesn't want to set a precedent that a superhero should have bulging biceps and washboard abs.
