Rumors about Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt's reconciliation had been rampant since the latter's split from his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. Last year, as they became more amicable, there were claims they had a secret trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Star magazine claimed Aniston and Pitt went to Mexico for three nights and two days to revive their romance. An insider revealed the 51-year-old actress hired a "private chef, scheduled couple massages, and a private hike to a secluded waterfall" for their stay.
They seemed to return to 1999 when they enjoyed their romance and bonded together before they tied the knot. The source continued that they decided to go on a trip after the Friends star randomly asked the 56-year-old actor to go to Cabo.
Pitt accepted the invite and said it was "just like the old days." The tipster added the two wanted to escape the reality, so they took some time off and went ahead of their plan.
At the time, the Ad Astra star was busy promoting Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Aniston had ongoing divorce negotiations with ex-husband, Justin Theroux.
Gossip Cop debunked this claim, insisting that a romance reunion never happened between the two. The tabloid seemed to disprove itself after claiming that nobody knew about the trip, but it seemed to know every detail of their getaway and its reason.
There were a lot of claims about Pitt and Aniston's rekindled romance and romantic getaways, but none of those were proved to be true. The two A-list stars' reps also confirmed that everything about the dubious report was a lie. A year after the made-up story emerged, the time had proven it was not true at all.
Although Pitt and Aniston indeed renewed their friendship, they never rekindled their romance. They remained amicable, working alongside each other without being awkward. They even appeared together on-screen for the first time since his appearance on Friends in 2001 and their divorce two decades ago.
The two took part in a read-through of Fast Times at Ridgemont for a charity, NME noted. The move was for the benefit of Dane Cook's Feelin' A-Live to raise cash for the emergency relief organization, CORE, which the actor, Sean Penn, set up.
Aside from Aniston and Pitt, Julia Roberts, Morgan Freeman, and Matthew McConaughey joined the cause. They all recited the 1982 hit film.
