The possibility of driving a car remotely is now nearer with a Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra smartphone.

A video that Xiaomi showed on its Weibo page proved it is possible to drive a car remotely using Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra.

In July, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 10 Ultra which industry observers say is among the best smartphones that money can buy. Unfortunately, the 5G-capable Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will not make it to the global market. A Xiaomi representative said that the smartphone is only available to those who are living in China. The least you can do now is to admire the top-of-the-line features of the new smartphone.

For starters, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra comes with an improved OLED capacitive touchscreen capable of 1 billion colors and a 120Hz refresh rate, wrapped with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Its chipset is a Snapdragon 865 with an octa-core CPU at 2.84 GHz. It also features an Adreno 650 GPU and internal RAM with a base of 8GB to 16GB. Storage configurations start from 128GB to a maximum of 512GB.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra features a quad-cam which includes a 48MP main camera with a custom-made sensor, a 20MP camera with a periscope telephoto lens, a 20MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP camera with 2x zoom which is best for making portrait shots.

The phone showcases dual stereo speakers, making for a great experience when playing games or when watching videos. One of the best things about the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is its 4,500mAh battery, which features fast-charging capability at an astounding 120W fast charge rating. Xiaomi announced at the start of the year they are using technology that allows batteries to fully charge from zero to 100% in only 23 minutes. The technology also allows 50W wireless charging, which is faster compared to other devices as it promises to bring the phone to full charge in just 40 minutes.

Recently, Xiaomi's official Weibo page posted a video showing a professional driver using the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra to drive a real car about 2,000 miles away. The location appears to be a race track, which is within a controlled environment.

The company said that they conducted the demonstration using Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra on a 5G SA network with the slightest delay of about 1ms. Xiaomi further stated that engineers specifically modified the car so it will function on the same network. They also developed an app specifically designed for the purpose of the demonstration.

The video appears to suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra-controlled vehicle won the race. However, some say that the video was purely a marketing trick. Whether or not it is a marketing stunt, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra smartphone just proved to the world that controlling the car's steering wheel, throttle, and gearbox is not a remote possibility.
